Hello Swimmers, Le message francais suivra. Message from the President Hi Everyone, It was a fantastic season. I have loved swimming with all of you. This club is fantastic for so many reasons... the caliber of the coaches, the amazing people, and the flexibility that it allows to its members, we are truly lucky. I wish you all the best in the off season and hope to see you in the fall. Michelle Social Events Please join us for breakfast June23rd at Broadways (Jeanne D'Arc & Orleans Blvd) immediately following our last swim of the session. New event this year! Please join us at Blanchet Beach (North end of MeechLake, near P13) on July 7that 9:30 for a swim, followed by brunch at Chez Eric in Wakefield. As reservations are requiredat Chez Eric, please RSVP to Rod (rod_beauprie@rogers.com) by the 4th of July. Reminder: July 14th is “Bring onthe Bay” a fun and well-organized 3 km open-water swim from the Nepean Sailing Club to the Britannia Yacht Club. Competition With the season close to an end I’d like to congratulate all our swimmers who competed over the season either at a local Masters Meet or at our first annual ORCAS Fun Meet. As a club we earned 4 medals at provincials and 2 medals at Nationals. This is a fantastic showing for our first year as an official Masters Club. For the summer I suggest either taking your swimming outdoors to maintain your sport or to take up a new sport to keep you fit and active until we meet again in September. I look forward to competing with all of you again next season! Coaches’ Corner This session is ending on June 23rd until the fall. We will be holding a final TT for the last swim followed by breakfast. Grady Arnott will be filling in for Laura until the end of this session. Please extend to her the usual ORCA cordial welcome. Sharon Donnelly has some space on weekday mornings at the Bearbrook outdoor pool; see the Bytown Storm website.
See you in the Pool, ORCAS Executive Team |
